WRI Ryde Parramatta Charity Pro Am
After the Ryde Parramatta WRI Charity Pro Am I have shot a score of 73 (+2) to place T11th.
The golf course was in the best condition I have seen it in and we all got lucky to complete the day with storms skirting the edges of the course.
Starting on the 13th I hit 13, 14, 16, 18 and the 1st greens with my closest 2 birdie chances coming at 16 from 3m and 18 from 2m missing them all. In this stretch I made a soft bogey at 17.
With driver out on the 2nd a dogleg left and wind off the left I felt it was a poor club choice hitting it into the right trees, chipping the ball out to the front edge to have plenty of room up the green and made a momentous save for par. Off the tee on 3 I hit a 6iron into the fairway bunker trying to put myself in play knocking it out to 6m holing the birdie putt. Again followed this up with another save at 4 and hit 5iron to 5m on a par 5 for an eagle chance to leave it short in the heart. Gut wrenching!
Easy par on 6 before missing the greens at 7, 8, 9 and 10 all in the middle of the fairways tee box making a bogey on 7 and double bogey on 10 after a 3 putt. My 1st 3 putt in 4 rounds.
I finished off the day knowing that every shot counts and made great saves at the last 2 holes holing a 5m and 9m putts.
5 times I have played Ryde and I believe my best score is 2 over. Looking forward to one day shooting a good score around there. Well done to Matt and Smokey for putting on a great event and raising much needed funds for a blind and deaf school. Thanks to WRI who once again has supported a fabulous event. Looking forward to playing again next year.
