About Taylor
Taylor is a full time YouTuber was born in Gosford on the New South Wales Central Coast before moving to Queensland at a very young age with his mother, Nicole Cooper, a professional hairdresser and father, James Cooper, a PGA member. Taylor’s farther accepted the role of teaching professional at Paradise Palms Golf Club now called Colonial Country Club.
From an early age, Taylor knew sport was his future and decided golf was where his ambition, passion and skills lied. He was fortunate to have as his coach, Gary Edwin, one of Australia’s leading PGA coaches who has worked with many of Australia’s most successful golf professionals including Ian Baker-Finch, Jan Stephenson, Rod Pampling, Gavin Coles, Peter Lonard, Paul Gow and Nathan Green. Among many others for periods of time.
Taylor joined Manly Golf Club, a private course on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, as a trainee professional where he came under the influence of the Director of Golf, Phil Baird. Phil has been a great supporter of Taylor’s golfing career.
Taylor’s ambition is to be a full time member of the US PGA tour, and having made it through the Australasian PGA Tour School at 17 years and 10 months of age and becoming a full Vocational Member of the Autralian PGA at the start of 2016. Taylor has a PGA Tour China Tour Card – where he has had a top 15 placing in his first tour event and T2nd in his 3rd last event retaining his card for the 2017 season, he has shown he has what it takes. In 2015 and earlier this year, Taylor competed in a number of events in Australia, New Zealand and in Fiji. Recently Taylor played in the US and came close to achieving a start on his dream tour. In the 2016 at the Valero Texas Open, Taylor won the Thursday Qualifier with 6 under before shooting 4 under in the Monday Pre-Qualifier and missing by one shot and one player.
Taylor met his wife, Ally who was born in San Diego, California however grew up in Dallas, Texas, in 2012 when he arrived in Sydney and they were married in 2015 at a ceremony at Manly Golf Club before family, friends, colleagues and club members. They plan to return to her home city permanently once the playing schedule warrants the move.
Less widely known is Taylor’s Aboriginal heritage. Through his maternal side, he is of the Darug Nation, situated in the Rose Hill, Cumberland Plains area of Sydney.
When not playing golf, Taylor enjoys spending time with family and friends – and following the NRL.
So, a few weeks after finishing high school, Taylor qualified on the Australasian PGA tour and now at 25, he has come full circle, completing his traineeship at Manly Golf Club, graduating as a PGA professional and qualifying, with fully exempt status on the PGA Tour in China. He is back where he was when he was 17. Older and more experienced and playing and winning as a full time touring professional.
