Castle Hill Pro Am Round 1
After the 1st round of the Castle Hill Pro Am I have shot a score of 70 (+2) to be T20th hitting 11 greens 30 putts.
It was a perfect afternoon for golf. Finally the weather has cleared away for the time being. Teeing off on the 1st a par 5, I made a short side bunker up and down holing an 8m putt for birdie. Hitting the next 4 greens in a row I could not drop another chance with a 3m putt being my best chance on 3.
On the short par 4 6th hole I hit 4iron on the fairway. Having not played Castle Hill for a while I forgot there was a bunker tucked under the front edge of the green and ended up in it Just a course management bogey error. Hitting 7 and 8 greens I made par’s. Currently at Castle Hill the course is under going some changes and the 9th hole was out of play today among others rounding out the front nine in even with another par on what is 9/ actually 10.
I was faced with 10/11 which is a beauty of a hole in itself, pin cut middle left. I just managed to miss the water and chipped it to 2 feet making a 4 putt 6 triple bogey lining up each putt. I walked off happy with my attempts and turned to my next few shots and I came back with a chip in birdie from 40m on 14/15 and birdied 17. With wedge in hand into 18 I hit a bit more of a leaking cut than I had liked finish just off the green on the bottom plato miss reading the big slope putting pin high but 4m right making bogey to end the day.
After handing in the card Castle Hill Pro Am and it’s sponsors also put on a long drive competition and a 140m nearest the pin comp for the professionals and for the pro am’s very 1st time I walked away winning them both which I was just elated with.
Castle Hill in the past has been a track I just have not got the hang of, however I am looking forward to continuing to work on my game and have another chance to conquer and crack open the Hill tomorrow. Teeing off at 12.45pm.
