Nelson Bay Pro Am 1st Round
After the 1st round of the Nelson Bay Pro Am I have shot a score of 72 (Ev) to be T8th having hit 8 greens 25 putts.
It was a morning of sun, showers, sun then more showers. The greens had the smell of purity as the ball hugged the ground all morning long.
Starting on the 17th I made a solid par to start with. On the par 5 18th a wayward drive ended up on hole 10 where I punched a 3 iron back onto the fairway I should be playing. Hitting a 87m shot to 3 feet making birdie. Missed greens at 1 and 2. I made great saves before making a simple up and down for birdie on another par 5.
Missing greens at 4, 5 and 6 I made 2 bogies at 4 and 6 being in some awkward spots where I could not get my approach close. For the next 10 holes I made all pars only hitting only 50% of greens but when I missed greens I was only 2m from the green surface.
Nelson Bay is a tough track having to sometimes hit away from flags. Sometimes being off the green is better than having a putt from 5m on the otherside. In the hunt with a chance of a W. 3 Back.
