4th Round Horizons New Zealand PGA Championships

After the 4th round of the Horizons New Zealand PGA Championships I have shot a score of 71 (Ev) to be 9 under and T25th. 11 greens 28 putts. The weather was just like the 1st round blowing 20km/h and picked up more as the round went on.

Starting on the 1st hole I hooked the drive left into the trees chipping out to 100m and made par rolling in a 3m putt. Hitting the next 6 greens in a row I made 2 birdies on 5 and 7 the 2 par 5’s on the front nine.

Turning back into the wind on 8 to 12. The par 3 8th I flared my 3iron way right hitting a nice flop shot over the bunker to 4m missing the par putt and had another bogey on 9 missing the green right from the left rough. Would have been nice to have rolled in one of those putts for par but I did exactly that on 10 when again I was out of position off the tee and had to pitch out to 40m from the pin.

Greens in regulations flowed again hitting the next 4 in a row making birdies on 12 and 14 from 4m and 8m. Unfortunately just like yesterday I couldn’t finish strong and had 2 bogies in a row on 15 and 16. 15 I missed an easy up and down for par from 4m. Bad chip. 16 with pitching wedge in hand flew the green down wind on the par 3 into the hay missing an 8m par chance for par. Could not muster a birdie to finish from 5m sadly on both 17 and 18 to get to double figures and have 4 rounds under par for the week.

Not sure what to think about the week. Played some awesome golf and was really pleased with my processes and game play. Another event where I came close to being in touch with the leaders at one point or another. Really feeling comfortable with my game and head space on course. Thanks to all who has been cheering me on back home. Tomorrow I will be attempting to pre qualify for the New Zealand Open teeing off at Paraparaumu at 11am.
