1st Round Chongqing – PGA China Tour
1st round of the Chongqing Kingrun Open, PGA Tour China Tour I have had 71 (-1) coming T40th. Dealing with light drizzle all day the course was set up for low scoring and after a chip-in eagle on my 4th hole of the day I was on my way to do just that. Bogey came at the 15th through a wrong club choice although my chip went to 2ft missing the short putt. I bounced back at the next with a chip-in birdie followed by another birdie to get to 3 red.
In-between my 2 chip-ins on the back nine both my playing partners had also chipped in making 4 chip-ins in a row on 4 different holes. Just sensational stuff.
Scoring well I had gotten through the hardest part of the course expect for 5 & 6 to come. Making 2 soft bogies at 2 and 3 hurt momentum majorly damaging the score I had going. Paring the par 5 4th also left me with a sour taste in my mouth.
Plug ball in the lip of a trap on 6 I did well to make a bogey after hitting my 2nd in the scrub but with a close approach at 7, a bounce back birdie was to be had on the par 3.
With a par 5 and short par 4 to finish I had my chance to add some more birdies to the tally but a 3 putt at 8 for par and and up and down at 9 I left the course with my tail between my legs.
