2nd Round Buick Open – PGA Tour China
After the 2nd round of the Buick Open I have shot a score of 75 (+3) to be 3 over par total and coming T32nd. Rain fell for 5 holes total over the 18 holes and was very cold with small winds all day.
Starting with bogey down the 1st hitting it into the green side bunker missing a 5m putt for par it was not what I was after to start the day. I hit 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 greens in regulation with the closest birdie chance being on 4 2m away missing all birdies and making a 3 putt at 5 for bogey. A bad 9 iron from the fairway at the 9th certainly was a confidence knock especially not achieving the up and down to turn 3 over.
From the 9th to the 11th I missed 3 greens in a row making up and down at 10 but a fairway bunker shot on 11 (poor 4 wood off the tee left) left me an interesting 2nd, not making up and down missing a 3m putt for par.
3 great plays down 12 lead to a birdie from 6m bounce back before the rain started to bucket down for the next 3 holes. Hitting 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 greens in regulation in a row I only made one birdie which was on 17 from 1.5m. Another chance at 14 from 2m and 15 2.5m left short in the heart came close to pick up shots. Really had a chance to improve my score down the last few holes but a bogey at the last with a fat wedge shot from the rough short hurt my grind back.
Work to be down on the weekend and the weather is only set to get worst on Saturday before fining up for the last round. Looking forward to moving day with the potential bad weather.
