1st Round Zhuhai Hengqin Phoenix Tree Open – PGA Tour China
After the 1st round of the Zhuhai Hengqin Phoenix Tree Open I have shot a score of 74 (+3) to be T35th. After a bogey down the 1st on a par 5 it was a scratchy start to the event as the 1st shot of the day with 3iron caught the hazard. A great up and down at 2 for par before not getting up and down at 3 making bogey I had to knuckle down for the rest of the day and a least produce something.
Giving it my all through the tough section 2 – 8 I reeled off some pars before hitting another tee shot in the hazard on 9 and making up and down to save double bogey. Chances fell left and right for birdie on 10 and 11 before a wayward shot at 12 on the par 3 with 4 iron went left into the hazard. Walking up to the line I had found my ball as it kicked off the tree in the hazard. Majorly lucky break managing to make a career 3 from the hazard.
14 the par 5 my lay up approach went right into the hazard. Finding the ball I was unable to play it so I elected to take a drop. From there I missed the green short side holing a 5m putt to save double bogey. I hit the next 3 greens in regulation in a row to make pars and down the last par 5 hit the green under regulation to make. 2 putt birdie. My only one for the day. Held on in the end and will now need to but On my way! Under par rounds together in order to move towards the leader.
