Mike Carney Toyota & New Home Solutions Townsville Pro-Am
I finished with a score of 71 (+1) to come T6th. Townsville and the Golf Club have put plenty of work into the event considering the course has just opened a brand new 9 holes. The other 9 holes will be starting soon too and the finish product will be fantastic I am sure.
The green speed was up there with one of the quickest and due to an afternoon tee time the wind most certainly could have tested a few pros on the greens. Combined with the new hard feel of the course it made it certainly a challenge but I was pleased with the way I handled the challenge. Being 2 over through 4 holes I was happy with my golf and the way it is looking leading into the 3 four round events on the Queensland Sunshine Tour.
Today we drove from Townsville to Mackay which is a 4.5 hour car trip south. A small trip compared to the 16 hour 2 day drive to Townsville from the Gold Coast. The plan today was to take a look at nine holes to prepare for the Mackay Pro-Am. I was able to do this with 3 lovely juniors who could not get away from their phones. Pokemon Go has certainly taken over. Play golf and catch’em all! Don’t mind if I do. Where are you Pikachu? Tomorrow I will be teeing off at 6.50am at Pioneer Valley Golf Club for their Pro-Am.
