After round 2 of the Australian Masters

After round 2 of the Australian Masters I have finished with a 70 (-1) to be 4 over total and MC by a shot.

Overall it was a much better day in regards to the weather although this morning thunder storms pushed tee times back 30mins. It took me till the 15th hole till I missed a green in regulation. Each bogey before that were all 3 putts. I really hit the ball well all day and had genuine opportunities each hole for birdies.

After firing a 2 under through the front nine I was in the box seat as I believed +3 would be the cut. Missing the fairway on the 10th right, I hit a career shot out from under the trees from 200m onto the green to 20ft but unfortunately 3 putting for the bogey.

From there I hit my approach shots on 11 to 12ft, 6ft on the 12th and 9ft on the 13th all to miss for birdie. Making a 9ft putt on 14 for birdie I climbed back to 2 under for the day before bogeying the next due to missing the green and not making up and down out of a bunker. Away I went again giving myself opportunities, 12ft on the 16th, long range on the 17th and 9ft on the 18th. The last putt of the day to make the cut my heart sunk as it it horse shoed in, then out of the hole straight back at me. Had a chance from a similar range, same type of putt left to right to make the cut at the NSW Open and missed that too.

None the less I did Pre Q for this event and it was a bonus to be able to play. Again my ball striking was a stand out for the week. Most of my bogeys came from 3 putts totaling 6 over the past 2 days. Take them out and I would be well up the leader board. I will keep working closely with my coaches to fix the putting. All I can do is keep believing and giving it my all. On Monday I will be Pre Qualifying again at Ryde-Parramatta for the Australian Open.
