Round 4 Wanda Open – PGA Tour China
After round 4 of the Wanda Open, PGA Tour China I have shot a score of 74 (+2) to be 7 over total and T47th.
Picture is the par 5 9th tee shot. I really enjoyed playing this track this week as a premium was placed on your tee shot. Every hole was similar to this. Just jungle left and right.
Hitting my 1st few shots on the range this morning was laughable due to my hand injury. I could not get an 8 iron off the ground for the 1st 20 balls until the pain killers kicked in.
Starting on the 10th hole under the circumstances of my hand I was stoked to have made pars on the 1st two holes making an awesome save on the 11th from the wood chip area, short-sighted. The next 4 holes it was not the hitting where I dropped the shots. I made 1 birdie but unfortunately made 3 – 3 putts. Two of them I was in the wrong area of the greens for my 1st putt mainly due to being out of position with my tee shot. I kept my cool as the greens were noticeably quicker today than the last 3 rounds and I knew I now felt comfortable with the putter. On 18 another out of position tee shot I hit my 2nd over the back due to a low punch shot under trees making a bogey to turn 3 over.
Making pars on the next 6 holes I hit the green at the 7th to have another 3 putt due to being out of position on the green. Being on the wrong tier today on the greens made it nearly impossible to get the ball close with the 1st putt.
2 excellent shots down the 9th and onto the green I sunk a putt from 30ft for an eagle. What a great way to finish. This now ends the 1st period of the PGA Tour China where I sit 46th on the Order Of Merit. It is a solid start to the season and I have a chance with some high finishes in the events towards the end of the year to still achieve my goal. In fact a 5th place in an event will bump me up to 19th on the OOM. Next PGA Tour China event starts 1st week in September. Now onto the Queensland Sunshine circuit where the next event is the Townsville Pro-Am.
