Round 4 Swing Thought Tour – Harbor Hills
After the 4th round of the Swing Thought Tour, Harbor Hills I have shot a score of 68 (-4) to finish 16 under total and T9th. Another great week and my 3rd top 10 for the year from 6 events.
This is now my lowest ever 4 round total recently beating the 12 under I had 3 weeks ago at the Queensland PGA Championships.
With a testing start today hitting a hook into the left trees off the tee I had to chip out to 60m. I stuck it to 2m but missed the putt for my 1st bogey in 41 holes. This I believe was a good thing as my mind was more focused on not having bogeys and not concentrating on attacking the course and making birdies.
I managed to turn the tables quickly and birdie the 3rd and 4th with great short game skills. On the turn of the front nine I finished with 2 under as I birdied the easy par 5 6th.
On the 10th missing the green with wedge in hand from 120m was a bad start to the back nine but I putted it in from 20m off the green at speed. So thankful that one dropped! Gave it a massive fist pump by the way.
On 11 gave myself a chance from 4m to narrowly miss the birdie. 12 could have been a real game changer as I started to build on my round. Having 6 iron in over water to a left flag I stuck it to 2m up hill for an eagle, unfortunately missing the putt. Really felt the momentum could have swung my way through this part of the course as I birdied the next. Also most putting myself in reaching distance for the leaders but it was not to be.
From the 14th onwards it was all about hanging on as I never placed myself off the tee in an attacking position. 14 was close to the out of bounds pegs as I made par. 15 the tee shot ended up under a side lip in the bunker with feet on the outside of the trap making bogey and paring in from there.
Overall I am pleased so far with my 1st time in America and looking forward to a couple of days off before next Thursday where I play the Pre – Qualifier for a US Tour Event. The Velaro Texas Open.
