Round 2 Rebel Sport New Zealand Masters
After the 2nd round of the Rebel Sport New Zealand Masters I have shot a score of 72 (+1) to be 3 over total T28th. 15 greens 33 putts. Making the cut. The weather conditions could not have been better this morning.
Starting on the 10th my shot finished on the cart path off the tee and stuck the 2nd shot to 2m making birdie. Up and down par at 11 followed by an easy par at 12. Heading into the tough par 5’s I made a solid par at 13. Going for the green at 14 for 2 I finished in a prime position 10m short of the green and walked away with a 3 putt bogey. Just an absolute let down.
Followed that up with greens in regulation at 15, 16 and 17 making all pars bar 17 where I made another 3 putt bogey and walked away from the nine holes dumb founded as I made bogey up the 18th from an easy up and down to sit at 4 over for the event. Hit 7 greens that nine too.
Went on a hot green in regulation run hitting the 1st to the 8th greens I made 2 birdies. Par 5 4th from 1.5m and a tap in on the par 3 8th (Incredibly close to my 2nd hole in one). Other than the 5th and 6th I was inside 4m for the rest on the front nine. Up the 9th it was a bit of a scramble to save par. From the fairway trap I hit it into the greenside bunker left and hit a career bunker shot to a 1m and missed the putt.
Ball striking was better today. Hit my shot shapes to a high level and just could not convert enough on the greens to move up the leaderboard. Still not out of a good result for the week. Nothing a low red number can’t fix for moving day. Come on, lift Coops!
