Round 2 Nanjing Zhongshan Open – PGA Tour China
After round 2 of the Nanjing Zhongshan Open, PGA Tour China I have shot a score of 70 (-2) to be 1 under total and T39th. Heavy rain has suspended play for the 2nd round and will continue early tomorrow morning.
Yesterday was a sad afternoon for the Cooper family, close relatives and myself as Nea Cooper my Grandma passed away. I wanted to take an item onto the course to lighten up my day in remembrance of her which was my ‘Back to the Future’ hat. Colorful just like my Grandma. “I played for you today Grandma and you brought plenty of smiles to many faces with this hat.”
The rain today was just unstoppable, especially towards the end of the round. Hence play stopping. The par 5 2nd an error off the tee lead to a bogey which really felt like a double bogey. As the rain started to fall solid pars were made till a miracle 50ft putt was sunk on the 6th. From there I missed the next 2 greens making up and down.
At 9 I had a great chance for birdie to close out the front nine under par but it wasn’t to be. A thin driver off 10 left me in the fairway bunker where I missed the green and was unable to make up and down but the highlight of the day was on the next hole making eagle on the par 5 11th. As I made the putt I took off my special hat and pointed to the sky. That one was for you G’ma. Another chance for eagle came at 14 which came agonizingly close.
Hitting the next 4 greens to finish I was unfortunate not to make more birdies but with the way the weather today today was a solid performance making the cut.
