Round 2 – Ian Weigh Toyota Rockhampton Pro Am

r2rockhampton

After the 2nd round of the Rockhampton Pro-Am I have shot 70 (-2) to be 3 under total and T33rd.

It was a foggy start this morning which delayed the start of play by over an hour. Just the perfect amount of time to complete some putting practice. It was an exciting start to the day driving the green on the 12th hole and holing a 45ft putt for eagle. I followed that up with a birdie on the 16th to to get to 3 under.

With 2 par 5’s on 18 and the 1st I had a chance to really make some inroads into the leaderboard but never hit the fairway to take advantage and never took advantage of my pitch shots in with the putter in hand. This was a momentum set back. Apart from these holes I continued to hit close approaches like I have done all week.

Almost holing out on the 3rd for eagle the ball spun back to 2m not making birdie. A fat wedge at the next I made a great up and down but again another fat wedge on the 5th was a major surprise. I still hit that chip to a meter but missed another short putt making my only bogey for the day. I was really rattled at this point in my round.

I even stepped up on the next and hit the fairway to again wedge it to another meter birdie chance at the 7th before again missing the putt. I was gobsmacked at the last 8 holes and how these all played out. Really missed my opportunities to have a great score with the start I had. From there I had a par 5 and a short par 4 not making birdie on either of them was also a dagger in the heart. Just a nine to forget.

Teeing off tomorrow at 6.50am for the 3rd round. Another day and another chance to see a better result. Still not out of a good finish.
