Round 1 Northern Territory PGA Championships
After the 1st round of the Northern Territory PGA Championships I have shot a score of 71 (Ev) to be T35th.
Cool conditions graced Palmerston in the morning and scoring was easy to come by. The greens are very small so having a good approach game will help the score. I certainly felt I did just that for most of the day hitting 14 greens.
Starting off the actual 1st and missing a 3m putt up the hill was not what the doctor ordered. This translated into the 2nd hole where I hooked the tee shot out of bounds on a par 5. Re-hitting from the tee I had 6 iron in for my 4th where I again almost went out of bounds. I was in a tricky spot and did not hit the green from there to not make up and down from the chip out, walking away with a snowman.
I had to muster some deep breaths and focus for the rest of the game and it started by making a birdie at the hardest hole on the course the 3rd. A 3 putt snake bogey came at the 4th before making another 2 birdies to finish the 9 on 6 and the 9th.
On the 10th, a just drive missing the fairway left me unable to go for the green making a bogey. From there I hit 11, 12, 13, ,14 and 15 greens in a row making birdie on the 13th. Missing the green at 16 I holed a putt over 10m for birdie to get me back to even for the day. With 2 short holes to finish I had a chance at shooting under par which was an amazing effort after the start.
Teeing off for round 2 at 12.55pm. You can follow the live scoring by clicking the link https://www.pga.org.au/tourns/pga-tour/event/leaderboard…
