NSW Open Pre Qualifying
After the Pre Qualifying for the NSW Open I have shot a score of 73 (+1) to miss qualifying by 9 shots. Would of had to have 8 under to make it in. It was a perfect day with no wind.
Teeing off the 1st I had a 3m putt for birdie lipping out bottom side. Big saves came at 3 and 5 making pars before a 2iron, 5iron, 4iron birdie came off at the long par 5 6th. This put me in a great position through the harder side of the course.
2 iron off the tee at 7 got me into trouble. Rolled a 7iron down the fairway to the front of the green not getting up and down to the front flag making bogey. Chance for a birdie at 8 from 7m missed before making a 3 putt bogey at 9 on the or 3.
Scratchy start to the back nine missing the 10th green making par. Another chance at 11 missed from 2.5m for birdie before another shot was given back. Kind of all over by then although I did no know.
Did make an eagle at the 12th to get back to square. Even kept giving my all right up until the 17th taking my shoes off to hit a shot out of the hazard to advance the ball into a approach shot on the par 5 making one of the best pars of my life.
10 greens 30 putts. Glimpses of good golf but fell away on the easier holes in the middle of the round and was not able to capitalize on greens hit for the birdie. Next event is the Pre Qualifying for the Australian Open at Ryde Parramatta next week. Thanks Darryl Hearsch for caddying today. Loved the Mustang ride to and from the course.
