Lake Macquarie Belmont Pro Am Round 1

After the 1st round of the Lake Macquarie Pro-Am I have shot a score of 70 (-2) to be placed T4th hitting 13 greens 30 putts.

The forecast was grim with showers and wind up to 30km/h. With no warm up and being glued to Tiger I strolled straight up to the 10th tee at 7am. Hitting the 1st 7 greens in a row I made one bogey with a 3 putt on 10 and a birdie on 14 in the open section of the course at Belmont. At the 8th I was impeded by a lonely tree which just caught my ball finishing just shy of the green not making the easy up and down. A good 2 putt par at the last finishing out the 9.

Through the 1st 3 holes I missed 2 greens at 2 and 3 making super par saves before making birdie then bogey at 4 and 5. It was disappointing not to bounce back with a birdie at 6 from 3m but I made up for that missed opportunity by shooting 3 under the last 3 holes with a birdie at 7 and holing a 9m eagle putt at the last. My 1st eagle this financial year.

It was a day of just hanging in waiting for something to go my way and I was pleased it did. Teeing off at 12noon tomorrow with some better weather on the cards.

A special thanks to Wal Moloney (Marmong Point Marina) hole sponsor, member at Manly and Belmont for looking after me this week featuring in the photo during a nine hole practice round yesterday. As you can see the course is in great condition.
