Isuzu Queensland Open Round 2
After the 2nd round of the Isusu Queensland Open I have shot a score of 71 (Ev) to be 4 over total and coming T51st another cut made. Big move up the leaderboard coming from 82nd yesterday. It was tough going for the morning field with winds up early as I teed off at 7.05am. More than yesterday afternoon. Certainly on the wrong side of the draw this event.
Starting on the back nine I was faced with the 1st set of amen corner getting through the 1st 4 holes at 1 over making bogey on the 13th which I was pleased with. Hitting 14, 15, 16 and 17 I made no birdies before missing the greens at 18 and 1 making a silly bogey at the 1st missing the fairway off the tee. Such an easy hole but was pleased to make a bounce back birdie at the next.
Heading into the 2nd amen corner of the day I made a career up and down on the 3rd right of the green, long off the bark holing a 7m putt followed by another up and down at the 4th. Hitting 5 and 6 in regulation it would have been nice to drop a putt but not to be and to finish the round I made 3 up and downs finishing par, par and a birdie.
Hitting 10 greens and 27 putts I started getting use to the pace of the dried out greens at Brisbane Golf Club. Coming down the last I believed the cut line may have been 4 over so it was super exciting to have made up and down for birdie from a 30m bunker splashing the ball out to a foot knowing I had done the job. Cut did move to 5 over. Great to back up a good finish last week with a cut made this week. All important moving day to come. Teeing off for the 3rd round at 10.20am.
