Everglades Pro Am

After the Everglades Pro Am I have shot a score of 64 (-4) finishing 2nd hitting 14 greens 29 putts.

The day was a perfect day with light winds. Probably one of the hottest days this Spring. Starting on the 2nd a par 5 I got stymied behind a tree and had to take an unplayable. I could not get a club onto the ball from any direction. 2iron cut got to just off the front edge of the green making up and down from 28m to make a great par save before making a birdie on the next from 4m.

There are 7 par 3’s at Everglades which is challenging and you need to play them well to have a good score. The 1st one I faced was the 4th hitting PW long not making up and down but bounce back at 5 holing a 5m putt for the bird. Another par 3 simple green in reg par, came close to dropping. 7 another birdie dropped this time a lengthy one holing a 10m putt but gave it back at one of those par 3’s missing short side with 6iron. Kind of an easy bogey though. Now 2 over on the par 3’s for the day.

Rounding out nine with a par I followed 2 more pars at 10 and 11. Bugger to not go one better at the par 5 11 but I will live. 135m down wind on the 4th par 3 of the day and I rolled in a 4m birdie putt down the hill to grab one back before hitting a par 5 under regulation to have 2 birdies in a row. Played away from the tucked flag at 14 making a regulation two putt par from 15m which was handy.

Now to the 3 par 3’s in a row. 5iron into this pin making bogey on the 1st one but managed to go birdie birdie for the next 2 holing putts from 8 and 9m. With chances on the last 2 holes from 6m I could not go any lower for the day. So pleased with myself to put 2 good rounds together the last few days.

Thanks to my playing partners Kevin, Jim and Michael for the fun day out. It certainly was a laugh.
Quote of the day from Kevin to Jim who was playing a provisional ball on 13. “Do you want me to hold up the traffic before you hit?” To Darren in the Pro Shop you are the best and I am looking forward to more hit outs in the future together. Great work to your team with a big congrats to one of those members of the team Nathan Miller for taking out the event 2 years in a row shooting 6 under. Enjoy the cake from Bite Me Bakehouse!!!
