Better Homes Port Macquarie Pro Am

After the Better Holmes Port Macquarie Pro Am I have shot a score of 76 (+5) with 9 greens and 31 putts in the 1st round to be T44th. In the 2nd 70 (-1) with 13 greens 30 putts to be T22nd to finish at +4 for the tournament.

It was an enjoyable 2 days playing one of my top 5 tracks in my opinion. The course was presented in excellent condition and the greens were pure to putt on. Harder and harder as the event went on. A big well done to my mate and travel partner who picked up the winners cheque Jordan Mullaney notching up his 4th professional win with scores of 67 (-4) and 68 (-3) to finish at -7 2 shots clear of 2nd. Big thanks for dinner last night and picking up the petrol on the way back.

During the 1st round I got off to a bad start in the afternoon starting on the 10th. Before I knew it I was 4 over after 5 holes. The worst was a double at the downwind par 5 12th really dropping 3 shots on the field there. One more bogey came at 17 on that nine as I birdied 15 and 18 to go out in 3 over.

Another birdie flowed at the 1st to get back to 3 over for the tournament before bogeying the next at the 2nd. Next 4 holes I made pars with a couple of chances at birdie before giving another shot back at 7 and 9 to end the round which was very disappointing as of course I believed I could go the other way and ground out a 2 or 3 over. Overall for the 1st round I was pleased with my fighting attitude and I never let anything get to me which was a great positive for the day.

Teeing off in the morning for the 2nd round I had the advantage of some calm conditions. Starting on 6 I had a 3 putt bogey to start before 3 one putts got me back to square through the 9th with a birdie at 9.

A solid nine holes from 10-18 was had with birdies at 12 and 18 with one bogey at 13 which was a 3 putt from 6m. Pleased to have my 1st red number for 9 holes at that point. Heading in the right direction.

Back to back birdies on 1 before giving it straight back on 2. With the last 3 holes I had good opportunities from less than 6m to make a few more birdies but walked away with pars picking up 22 spots on the field.

Overall for the event I had a couple more 3 putts than I liked and would have liked my putt count to be 4-5 less overall and 6 greens in reg more is where the game needed to be which is not much in my books but nevertheless another two days to see where the game is at on a pleasurable golf course. Again well done to Jordan and thanks to Ki-ea Apartments for making the 2 days possible.

Next event is Muree on the 19th followed by a 2 day event at Nelson Bay 20th and 21st of September.
