After the 3rd and 4th round of the Henan Open, PGA Tour China I have shot 74 (+2) and 71 (-1) to finish 5 over total and T13th.

At the start of the day 27 holes still had to be played due to the rain that delayed play on the 3rd day. Once arriving at the course the wind was up early, blowing around 20km/h tops and opposite to the previous days.

After having even par for the 1st nine of the 3rd round, the back nine I had two bogeys. Mainly due to tough pin positions. In fact to be brutally honest I never hit a shot close to any pins leaving long birdie putts and always putting for par. Did well not to have anymore than recoded for that nine holes.

When finished the 3rd round there was an hour and a half break where I was able to have breakfast and reset the mind from what I though was going to be a really tough last 18 holes. During the break the weather changed dramatically. Wind dropped and the sun came out becoming hot soaking up all the water from yesterday’s rain event.

With a wrong yardage at the 1st I started with a bogey but returned that with 2 birdies in a row. On 6 I hit the bottom of the flag with my 2nd from 80m and the ball finished 15 foot from the flag. Bad break. The par 5 7th played into the wind having a putt for birdie from 12 feet the ball narrowly missed the cup.

Birdies at 8 and 9 got myself to 3 under at the turn on the toughest holes on the course (apart from 17 and 18) after sinking a 12 foot putt and stumping a 6 iron on 9.

Bogey at 10 missing a 2 foot putt hurt but I again like the front nine made awesome birdies at 11 and 12 to follow the mistake. I knew at this point I was moving majorly up the leaderboard as many players were falling due to the toughness of the course.

Having my favorite yardage on 15 for 2 and a reachable par 5 to follow I was in the box seat for a potential awesome finish but it wasn’t to be. A flyer from the fairway sent me packing making bogey. After hitting the fairway on 16 and in the position for an easy birdie I missed the green short right not making up and down. Feet in a bunker and ball outside. Tough shot making par. Then a bogey, bogey finish missing the fairway on 17 and 18 narrowly affecting the 2nd shot into the green.

After looking at a potential 6 under for the day and 3 under being the best of any other player it was disappointing to finish the way I did. Although at the start of the day I would have been happy with a T13th result for my 1st event on the PGA Tour China.
