2nd Round Western Australian Open
After round 2 of the Western Australian Open I have shot a score of 70 (Ev) to be 2 over total making the cut on the number T58th.
Starting the day knowing the cut was +1 but the weather conditions were suppose to be windy and chance of rain especially for the afternoon tee times the cut was always going to creep out but how far was the question.
After shooting an even par on my front nine (back nine) I knew I had to have even or better to make the cut the next nine. The 1st hole is a par 3 that played 215m right to left wind. Missing the face on the 4 iron I came up short in the trap making bogey and parred the next 6 holes.
My mate Jordan Mullaney who made the cut on the number watched me play the last 2 holes and said the cut is +2 and I was +3. My 2nd shot on 8 was 215m up hill into the wind. Ripping a 4 wood I missed the green short, 10m from the flag. Using the putter I hit the ball pin high left 2m. Sneaky left to right lipping the putt in the right side for birdie on the string par 5.
The last hole was a par 3, 175m wind off the left and pin sitting just on top of the upper ridge. Flushing a 5iron out of the middle I came up 8m short below the ridge on the putting surface and managed to hit my 1st putt to outside a meter lipping the putt in the hand left side door. What a relief!!! Made it to the weekend.
