1st Round Port Macquarie Pro-Am

After the 1st round of the Port Macquarie Pro-Am I have shot a score of 74 (+3) to be coming T22nd. Teeing off in the afternoon the weather was perfect all day with a small amount of wind. Heated up to a lovely 25 degrees.

Starting on the 3rd hole I made bogey after hitting it to 3m for 2. Hitting the next 4 greens I made another 3 putt bogey on the 5th to be 2 over through 3 holes not missing a green in regulation. Bounce back birdie at 6 though which was a relief.

Heading down the 8th smoking a 2iron down the fairway I short-sighted my 9 iron pin high left. One of those chips where I should have taken my medicine but I opted to try and chip it close back firing leaving it on the hill short. Not getting up and down from the next to make double bogey. With a par 5 to come I hit the fairway and hit 4 iron to 8m draining an eagle putt to move back to one over. Massive bounce back.

Unfortunately the 8th hole was not the only double on the card as another appeared on the 11th. A plugged ball in the bunker greenside. My only hope was to leave it in the bunker. From the lie I hit 5 iron trying to run it up the face and maybe trickle out onto the green but it hit the top of the bunker lip and stayed in the trap. Splashing my 4th to 1.5m I missed the putt for double. Heart braking stuff.

Hitting the next under regulation on the par 5 I almost bounced back from another double bogey with an eagle tapping the ball in for a birdie to only give it back at the 13th. Went on a green in regulation hunt from there hitting 14, 15, 17, 18 and the 2nd making one birdie at the 18th and making a bogey at the par 5 1st hole after missing the fairway.

Teeing off for the 2nd round in the afternoon tomorrow at 11.45am.19400014_1938265676421116_1403532007041614146_n
